Mayor’s Office & Lobby 6F

What was your first impression of Seoul City Hall?
Now, I will show you the Mayor’s Office, where I work.
Thankfully, you’ve come all this way to visit Korea, and Seoul City Hall. I wish I could invite you to the Mayor’s Office for a beverage and a chat. But, that might not be feasible, so instead, I will introduce my office to all of you through this.
Here is my office room!
You may see bookshelves that are tilted on their sides in opposite directions.
There is nothing wrong with this picture - this is what it actually looks like.
These inclined bookshelves showcase my intention to fill the gaps in divided public opinion and polarization.
At the office, I use a meeting table made of recycled wood and chairs donated by citizens with dozens of different stories.
And, I have a memo board on which members of the public write down their hopes. I always keep in mind the very first promise I made to the citizens by reading them again and again.
Lastly, I have a small kitchen garden that I call the “Garden of Hopes and Wishes.”
By growing vegetables, I’m always reminded of my vision for Seoul: a healthy community where people and nature co-exist.
Until now we’ve seen the inside of the office,so now I show you outside the office.
Firstly, can you see the “documents that have changed Seoul”?
Here, major documents are on display. They have played leading roles in Seoul’s changes.
And, these are gifts the Mayors of Seoul, including me, have received from international figures representing cities from around the globe.
Now, it is time to take a picture at the photo zone. I hope you have good memories of Seoul City Hall.
